A boy and his scooter..

If you follow me on social media, you will know that one of my favourite things to do is take my son Odin for a scooter ride. He is 2.5 years old and loves to be in the great outdoors all the time! As he grows, I certainly want to nurture and encourage his adventurous, active and outdoorsy side and as a result I am finding I am re-discovering my own.Β Even in depths of winter, I find getting outside and enjoying the crisp morning air, does wonders for the soul.

On a Sunday morning Odin and I have breakfast, I pack a snack and coffee money, we put the scooter in the boot and head off.

We have our favourite spots, but I like to try and take Odin different places, because you never know what you are going to find. Just last weekend we went to have a scoot around the lake and came across the National Library having their birthday celebration. Suddenly we were immersed in a world of free entertainment, with jumping castles, face painting, balloons, bubbles, food stands, popcorn and music. Our humble outing, turned into a whole morning of fun and all I paid for was the coffee and baby chino.

During the week, when we have less time, we often just scoot around the block and talk about what we can see. The below picture is where Odin always say, ‘I just want to relax,’ and who can say no? We literally sit on the side of the road and watch the Cockatoos or Rosellas, as they eat the seeds and gather in the trees. Odin asks lots of questions, as toddlers do, and I do my best to give answers, even if its, ‘mummy doesn’t know, what do you think?’

Its a great opportunity for me to un-wind after work and be outdoors, talk to Odin about his day and of course, for us both to get some exercise.

I got rid of the pram about 6 months ago and I literally take the scooter with me everywhere! We were in Bali about a month ago, and packed in his suitcase was his scooter. In case your wondering, this is theΒ Micro scooter (and no I am not sponsored or paid for this post, just sharing) and its great for toddlers because it has 3 wheels for balancing, adjustable height and it breaks down into 2 pieces for travel. Best 2nd birthday present ever!!

I have literally discovered a new level of freedom with the scooter and I am looking forward to having many more adventures my with my man!
