This is a great dish for hiding those veggies from the kids... And some adults!
- 1 Brown onion Finally diced
- 1 Carrot Finally diced
- 2 Cloves garlic Minced
- 1 Zuccini Grated
- 6 Button mushrooms Finally diced
- 600 Ml Bottle passata
- 400 Ml Can crushed tomato
- 2 Tbsp Tomato paste
- 500 G Combination pork and veal mince
- 2 Tsp Oregano
- 1 Tsp Basil
- Salt and pepper To taste
- 1 Tbsp Olive oil
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, carrot, mushrooms and zucchini.
Once vegetables have softened, add mince meat.
When mince has been browned, add basil, oregano and tomato paste. Cook for 2 mins and add passata and crushed tomato.
Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer for at least 30mins. Slowly add water as sauce starts to thicken.
While that's bubbling, cook pasta to your liking and serve.
